In the Asian Games 2014, the draw for badminton men’s singles Monday saw Chinese superstar Lin Dan and Malaysian top performer Lee Chong Wei set on course for a semi-final collide.
The Fans of these superstars are expecting typical confrontation among twice badminton titans as Lee makes a last bid for gold in his Asian Games swansong.
The draw is intended by players’ world rankings as per 18 September 2014, so Lee and Chinese second seed Chen Long are at opposed tops of the draw.
With 30-year-old Lin selecting and deciding his challenges these days, he is only seeded ninth, grazing into Lee’s half.
Lin is willing to confront Hong Kong`s Hu Yun, seeded sixth, and Japan`s third seed Kenichi Tago on his way to the semis.
Lee looks set for an easier traverse, with Thailand`s eighth seed Boonsak Ponsana the only top player he would have to get on prior to the semi-final.
In the mid of the draw, world champion Chen Long is the favorite, with Indonesia’s Tommy Sugiarto and South Korea`s Son Wan-Ho his prime competitors.
If 31 year old, Lee does conquer nemesis Lin who has constantly denied him gold in most important events, including the Asian Games, Olympics and worlds. He is likely to have to take down Chen in a rerun of this year’s world championships final, where the 25-year-old Chinese powerhouse hurricane to victory.
Korea’s Son is one to watch for sadden though, having dragged out some stimulated presentations in the men’s team event in Incheon.
If he lookout to get past Chen, he could then have to Lin or Lee for a Korean gold.
